If you've never voted, you're missing out on one of life's great pleasures.
No, not the satisfaction of performing your civic duty. Or the sense of solidarity with your fellow voters. Or the continuity with our nation's roots in freedom, democracy, and self-determination.
We're talking about the smug feeling of self-congratulatory superiority you get from wearing that little "I voted" sticker on your lapel all day.
Hey, Mr. Goateed Coffeehouse Loiterer: I voted. You know it, Mr. Angry Supervisor at Work: I voted. Read 'em and weep, Ms. Waitress Taking My Lunch Order: I voted. Say it, don't spray it, Mr. Toll-Booth Guy: I voted.
Yeah, check me out, honey: I voted.
Because if you don't, you can't lord it over people.
And that's just plain un-American.
So this afternoon Amanda and I watched Dr Phil and Oprah, and they both had to do with voting. Today on Dr Phil he had on President and Mrs. Bush...it was actually pretty interesting they showed old pictures of them and clips of their daughters. Their daughters are really pretty, i was kinda suprised since their dad is kinda...um..goofy looking let's just say....anyway and next wednesday Senator and Mrs. Kerry are going to be on so i want to watch that as well. And then on Oprah they had on various celebrities and the efforts they took to get people to register to vote. Since i'm not positive that i'm registered i decided to register again on line so i have to send in that little form tomorrow. then Amanda researched where Bush and Kerry stood on issues so that we would make the correct decision come November...go us for being so mature :D
i was suprised to learn that President Bush is in support of oil drilling in the Arctic...and i really dont like that idea...damn seal hater? doesnt he care about the animals up there? i think we should only drill up there if absolutly neccessary and i just dont think we're there yet....i have a feeling he's going to get re-elected though...:?:
Amanda and i also decided to screw that cafeteria today we went in with one of my big bags and took a bunch of bagels!! go us, we soo showed them, i was proud of us for getting around the system.
i have sooo much to do tomorrow, i have history and counseling from 9:30 til 12:15.... then i have to hang up flyers around the dorm advertising the clothesline project (its when peeople get together to decorate t-shirts in memory of victims of sexual assault, they will then be displayed outside the studetn center.)...then i have to drop off a petty cash withdrawl form for gender equality.....then Jenna's coming over to borrow stuff for Friday, then we have to get Train tickets.....then dinner..... then Train!! yay...busy day though.

i suppose you're right that it is a complex difficult issue but i cant help but feel that we need to defend those that cant defend theemselves...anyway thanks for stopping by and commenting!! :)

Your blog is not scary you say? I almost believed that until you wrote that you thought Bush might get re-elected...don't even think, much less write, such things! That indeed IS a SCARY thought!

i dont think drilling in the artic is a good idea either....(i also think you should change the colors on ur blog sry to say it...but ummm they hurt my eyes and now my eyes hurt so much) but I would ahve to say I think that bush shouldnt be re elected and that I am not saying I want kerry in presidency i am jsut saying that bush sucks and that kerry will not make an adiquate president...
